The New England Patriots continue to strengthen their roster around quarterback Drake Maye following their loss in Super Bowl LX. The team is signing former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs to a four-year, $70 million contract, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

At 25, Doubs has spent his first four NFL seasons in Green Bay, where he recorded 202 receptions for 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns over 59 games. While he has never surpassed 724 receiving yards in a single season, he has shown productivity in the playoffs, including 20 catches for 371 yards and two touchdowns in four career postseason games.

Doubs’ addition strengthens the Patriots’ receiver group, which includes Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, Demario Douglas, Kyle Williams, and Efton Chism III, filling the gap left by Stefon Diggs’ release. This signing may also influence New England’s interest in trading for A.J. Brown, whom head coach Mike Vrabel previously coached in Tennessee.

Patriots Strengthen Roster With Key Offensive And Defensive Free Agent Signings

The Patriots have made multiple moves this offseason to improve both sides of the ball. On offense, they added guard Alijah Vera-Tucker with a three-year, $42 million deal ($21 million guaranteed) and fullback Reggie Gilliam on a three-year deal worth up to $12 million ($6 million guaranteed). On defense, Dre’Mont Jones joined the team’s defensive line on a three-year, $39.5 million contract.

Prior to acquiring Doubs, the Patriots pursued other wideouts, including Alec Pierce and Jalen Nailor, but pivoted after Pierce re-signed with the Colts and Nailor joined the Raiders. Doubs is expected to step into a key role in the passing game and provide a reliable target for Maye as New England looks to rebound from their recent Super Bowl disappointment.

This aggressive approach highlights the Patriots’ commitment to building a balanced roster with playmakers on both offense and defense.
