The Las Vegas Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a player-for-player trade, sending cornerback Jakorian Bennett to Philadelphia in exchange for defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV. The deal, first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, is pending physicals from both players. This trade comes as both teams aim to address specific positional gaps ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

Booker and Bennett Seek Bigger Roles Amid Depth Battles on New NFL Teams

Thomas Booker IV, a 2022 fifth-round pick by the Houston Texans, played 17 games with the Eagles last season, contributing 18 tackles and a sack. Before that, he spent time on Philadelphia’s practice squad and appeared in 10 games for the Texans as a rookie.

His addition to the Raiders gives the team more depth at defensive tackle, especially following the departure of Christian Wilkins due to injury. Booker will now compete for playing time among a crowded rotation that includes Tyree Wilson, Leki Fotu, and multiple young prospects.

Jakorian Bennett heads to Philadelphia after two seasons with the Raiders. A 2023 fourth-round pick out of Maryland, Bennett started 11 of 24 games for Las Vegas. His 2024 season was shortened due to a torn labrum, but he still managed 26 tackles and eight pass deflections. Although fully recovered, Bennett had fallen behind on the depth chart, spending offseason reps primarily with the second and third teams.

New Opportunities Emerge as Eagles and Raiders Reshape Depth Charts Through Player Trade

The Eagles, looking to solidify their secondary after parting ways with veteran Darius Slay, have been experimenting with options at outside cornerback. Adoree’ Jackson and second-year player Kelee Ringo have been splitting first-team reps, while defensive coordinator Vic Fangio recently confirmed that neither has pulled ahead in the competition. Bennett’s arrival adds another layer to the battle for a starting spot opposite rookie standout Quinyon Mitchell.

Both Bennett and Booker enter fresh situations where roster spots are still up for grabs. Bennett, who embraces the underdog role, remains confident despite recent setbacks. “I always had to get out [of] the mud,” he said. On the other side, Booker joins a Raiders defensive line still trying to establish a clear pecking order. With training camp in full swing, both players will have the opportunity to prove themselves and possibly secure larger roles on their new teams.
