Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was cited by police early Tuesday morning for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone. According to police records, the incident occurred at 12:24 a.m. when an officer from the Strongsville Police Department stopped Sanders while he was behind the wheel of his black Dodge TRX truck.

Sanders, 23, was traveling 41 mph over the posted speed limit, which qualifies as a fourth-degree misdemeanor under Ohio law. He now faces a $250 fine or the option to contest the citation in Strongsville Mayor’s Court, where he is scheduled to appear on July 3 if he chooses to fight the ticket.

Sanders’ Draft Slide and Rookie Orientation Shadowed by Early Off-Field Legal Trouble

Despite his recent legal trouble, Sanders had just completed the Browns’ mandatory minicamp the week prior. He remained in Cleveland afterward to participate in a rookie orientation program, as reported by Cleveland.com.

Once considered a projected first-round NFL draft pick, Sanders slid to the fifth round before being selected by the Browns. His off-field actions now raise questions about his discipline and maturity as he begins his professional football career.
