Veteran Slayton Excels While Belton, Paige, Hawkins Fuel Giants’ Takeaway Focus
Veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton made a strong impact during the 7-on-7 drills, catching a 40-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jameis Winston. Slayton, now entering his seventh NFL season, ranks impressively on the Giants’ all-time receiving lists and is on track to climb higher with continued performance.

Safety Dane Belton impressed with his third interception in six OTAs, earning praise from defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. Alongside Belton, undrafted safety Makari Paige and cornerback Tre Hawkins III contributed interceptions, fueling a team-wide emphasis on takeaways. Bowen shared the “Be a damn pirate” mentality inspired by his son’s tee-ball team, encouraging aggressive ball-hawking.
Wilson’s Strong Connections And Versatile Defense Showcase Giants’ Growing Team Potential
Quarterback Russell Wilson connected with tight end Theo Johnson, wide receivers Jalin Hyatt and Slayton during drills, with Wilson expressing confidence in Hyatt’s potential. Defensively, cornerbacks and edge rushers like Brian Burns and rookie Abdul Carter showed promise by disrupting passes and applying pressure, enhancing the Giants’ defensive versatility.
The Giants have several OTA sessions remaining on June 9-10, June 12-13, and June 17-19, leading into their minicamp. These practices aim to fine-tune the roster and strategies ahead of the full training camp, as the team works toward a competitive season.
