Jeffery Simmons, defensive tackle for the Tennessee Titans, was the target of a home burglary on Sunday night while he was in California with his team. At least six suspects broke into his Nashville-area residence shortly after 7 p.m., smashing glass to gain entry. No one was home during the incident, and authorities are investigating the theft, though the exact items stolen have not been disclosed.
Simmons Reports Burglary to Police While Sharing Footage and Reacting Publicly Online
Simmons contacted the Metro Nashville Police Department about the break-in after returning to Tennessee on Monday morning. He also posted video footage on his Instagram story showing the suspects approaching his home. The Titans confirmed that their security team is actively assisting police in recovering the stolen property.

Reacting to the incident, Simmons expressed relief that no family members were present during the burglary. He condemned the suspects and highlighted that material possessions are replaceable, unlike the safety of loved ones. Despite the distraction, Simmons recorded seven tackles and a sack in the team’s 37-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Rising Trend of Home Burglaries Targeting Professional Athletes Across the United States
Simmons’ experience is part of a wider trend of professional athletes falling victim to home burglaries. Notable cases include Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, and Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. NBA star Luka Doncic and Saints defensive end Cam Jordan have also faced similar incidents. The FBI previously warned that international crime groups track athletes’ locations to target their homes.
This incident adds to an already difficult season for the Titans, who hold a 2-12 record and have been eliminated from playoff contention for the fourth consecutive year. The team is struggling both on the field and off, highlighting a season filled with setbacks for players and management alike.
