The Arizona Cardinals decided to open the roof at State Farm Stadium for their game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

However, it started to hail.

Rain began early in the second quarter, then intensified into a heavy downpour that turned into hail, which forced the Cardinals to close the roof. It takes about 12 minutes to close the roof, and by the time it was done, the rain had mostly stopped.

The brief bad weather didn’t impact the game, although some fans under the open roof moved up the stairs to escape the rain.

The Cardinals usually keep the roof closed early in the season when it’s still hot in the desert, opening it later in the year when the weather cools down.
