The Minnesota Vikings have reached an agreement on a contract with free agent cornerback Shaquill Griffin, aiming to bolster their cornerback position with some much-needed experience.
Griffin, an eighth-year veteran, will be suiting up for his fifth NFL team after spending last season with Houston before moving on to Carolina following his release.
Drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round out of UCF in 2017, Griffin boasts an impressive resume, having started 79 of 89 games in his career with seven interceptions and 64 passes defended.
He earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2019.
While the Vikings found success last year with the addition of cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. in free agency, the cornerback position remains somewhat unsettled beyond him.
Akayleb Evans faced benching toward the end of last season, while Mekhi Blackmon showed potential as a rookie but primarily played in the slot. Additionally, Andrew Booth Jr., part of the 2022 draft class with Evans, has yet to establish himself as a reliable contributor.
