Minnesota Vikings linebacker Dallas Turner was scammed out of $240,000 by individuals who posed as representatives of his bank, JP Morgan Chase. The incident, which occurred on February 19, is currently under police investigation. Authorities have identified several suspects and are preparing to file charges. However, only a small portion of the stolen funds — less than $2,500 — has been recovered.

According to court records, Turner received a phone call from someone impersonating a Chase Bank employee, claiming that someone was trying to impersonate him at a branch in Arizona. The caller convinced Turner that to protect his account, he needed to transfer his funds to two separate business accounts. Acting on this false information, Turner visited two different Chase branches and transferred $120,000 to each of the fraudulent accounts.

Police Investigate Possible Chase Employee Involvement After Turner Loses $240K To Scam

Turner realized he might have been scammed only after discussing the incident with a relative. At this time, neither Turner nor the Vikings organization has commented on the matter. Turner’s attorney has also declined to make a public statement. Meanwhile, police are examining whether any employees at Chase Bank might have been involved in the scheme and have asked the bank about the findings of its internal investigation.

Turner, a promising young player, was selected by the Vikings with the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He signed a fully guaranteed contract worth $15.77 million over four years. Despite his financial loss, the situation has drawn attention to the dangers of impersonation scams and the need for greater security awareness, especially among high-profile individuals.
