Ever since transitioning into an analyst role, JJ Redick hasn’t shied away from expressing his views on various NBA matters. Recently, the seasoned three-point specialist embarked on a passionate rant during a national television appearance, targeting a coach with whom he shares a close relationship.

During his guest spot on ESPN’s “First Take,” Redick engaged in a conversation about the Milwaukee Bucks and their recent performance under coach Doc Rivers. Since Rivers took the helm, the team has struggled, tallying a 3-7 record.

In response to Rivers’ comments about the challenges of inheriting a team mid-season, Redick didn’t hold back, criticizing the coach for deflecting accountability.

“The pattern is consistent – making excuses. Doc, we understand that taking over a team midway through the season is tough. We get it, just like how being traded mid-season is tough for a player,” Redick remarked. “It’s always an excuse, always throwing your team under the bus…

There’s never any ownership with that individual.” Rivers assumed coaching duties following the dismissal of Adrian Griffin a few weeks earlier.

Despite boasting a lineup featuring stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, the Bucks have encountered early-season hurdles, indicating that they still have significant adjustments to make as they push for a playoff spot.
