Eric Dier maintains belief in Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga title chances despite being eight points behind league-leaders Bayer Leverkusen. The reigning champions halted their three-game losing streak across all competitions with a thrilling 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena, courtesy of Harry Kane’s brace.

The England captain opened the scoring in the second half with a superb left-footed strike, but Leipzig equalized through Benjamin Sesko’s deflected effort, which wrong-footed Manuel Neuer.

In stoppage time, Kane sealed the win for Bayern with another clinical left-footed finish. Although the late victory provides a much-needed boost, Bayern faces a daunting task to catch up with Leverkusen. Dier acknowledged the challenging situation but refused to rule out Bayern’s chances in the title race.

“It was a crucial win after our recent results. We’re facing difficulties, but football is unpredictable. We’ll keep striving for victories, even though our fate is not entirely in our hands,” he said.

With Gareth Southgate observing from the stands, Dier’s composed performance in Bayern’s defense enhances his prospects of earning a spot in the England squad for the upcoming European Championships. When quizzed about his national team aspirations, the 30-year-old emphasized his focus on delivering strong performances on the field.

“In terms of the national team, I aim to concentrate on my game and perform at my best. The rest is beyond my control; I just want to excel and see what unfolds,” concluded Dier.
