Kevin Shattenkirk joined the Boston Bruins after they had a tough loss in the playoffs last season, and then key players like Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci retired.

He was pleasantly surprised to find that the winning mentality and professionalism he was used to in Anaheim were still strong in Boston, even without Bergeron, Krejci, and Zdeno Chara.

Now, with the playoffs approaching, the Bruins are focusing on improving their game. Despite already securing a playoff spot, they want to be even better prepared this time after last year’s disappointment.

Captain Brad Marchand emphasized that making the playoffs is important, but the real challenge begins once they start.

Boston Bruins

The team’s goal is to win their first championship since 2011, although they aren’t considered the top contenders.

Even though they’re close to having the best record in the league, Coach Jim Montgomery isn’t planning to rest key players like Marchand. Instead, they’re focused on finishing the regular season strong and securing the best possible position for the playoffs.

Montgomery believes that when the Bruins play their structured style of hockey, they can compete with any team. Despite recent losses, he sees it as a learning opportunity that could benefit them when the playoffs arrive.
