Joe Flacco Starts for Colts as Anthony Richardson Sidelined, Pittman and Downs Return to Boost Offense

Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco took the starting role for the Indianapolis Colts in Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, as usual starter Anthony Richardson continued to recover from an oblique injury.

Richardson, initially expected to play after practicing throughout the week, was downgraded to a game-time decision by coach Shane Steichen after being listed as limited in practice on Friday. His injury, sustained in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, also caused him to miss last week’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Anthony Richardson’s injury raised concerns over his availability, but the Colts opted to keep him as the emergency No. 3 quarterback for the game. Richardson had practiced as a full participant on Thursday, but a setback on Friday led to caution regarding his recovery. Coach Steichen confirmed the decision to bench him in favor of Flacco, reflecting the uncertainty surrounding Richardson’s rehabilitation timeline.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. was cleared to play, despite dealing with a back injury that initially threatened to derail his season. Earlier in the week, the Colts considered placing Pittman on injured reserve, which would have sidelined him for at least four weeks. However, his situation improved, and he was unexpectedly designated as a full participant in Friday’s practice, allowing him to suit up for Sunday’s game.

Another key player for the Colts, wide receiver Josh Downs, also returned to the field after missing two practices due to a toe injury. His availability, along with Pittman’s, provided a boost to the Colts’ offense, giving quarterback Joe Flacco more options in the passing game despite the absence of their usual starting quarterback.

Saints’ Chris Olave Sidelined by Concussion in Loss to Buccaneers, Status Uncertain for Week 7

In Sunday’s game between the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was ruled out early due to a concussion. Olave sustained the injury in the first quarter after being hit in the helmet while catching a pass from rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler. As Olave fell, he lost control of the ball, which was then recovered and returned 58 yards for a touchdown by Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr.

Following the hit, Olave was evaluated by athletic trainers and initially walked off the field before jogging to the sideline. He entered the medical tent to be assessed for a concussion and was eventually taken to the locker room. Shortly after, it was confirmed that Olave would not return for the rest of the game due to the severity of his injury.

In the same game, the Buccaneers also lost a key player, starting cornerback Jamel Dean, who exited with a hamstring injury. Dean was hurt while tackling Saints wide receiver Bub Means, with his legs splitting awkwardly beneath him. Dean’s injury occurred toward the end of the first quarter, and he was replaced by rookie Tyrek Funderburk, making his defensive debut.

Olave has a history of concussions, including one last year in a game against the Atlanta Falcons, though he managed to play the following week. In 2022, he also missed a game after being knocked unconscious against the Cincinnati Bengals, following a previous concussion the week prior in a game versus the Seattle Seahawks.

Looking ahead, the Saints will face the Denver Broncos in a Thursday night matchup for Week 7. Olave’s status for this upcoming game remains uncertain as he enters concussion protocol once again.

Washington Commanders Staying Competitive Against Baltimore Ravens, Down 17-10 at Halftime

The Washington Commanders have shown they can compete with strong teams, at least for a half. In their first game against a team with a winning record this season, the Commanders are trailing the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 at halftime of their early-season matchup at M&T Bank Stadium.

This regional rivalry is the top NFL game of the week, featuring the 4-1 Commanders against the 3-2 Ravens. It also highlights the league’s best two running attacks and exciting matchups like Jayden Daniels versus Lamar Jackson.

The Ravens took the lead late in the first half with a 13-yard touchdown pass from Jackson to tight end Mark Andrews, finishing a 10-play drive that broke the 10-10 tie. The Commanders will receive the ball to start the second half.

Both teams, known for their high-scoring offenses, were held to a 3-3 score after the first quarter.

Commanders rookie Mike Stainristil intercepted Jackson on Baltimore’s first drive, setting up a 42-yard field goal by Austin Seibert. This was Washington’s first interception of the season.

The Ravens then drove 93 yards to go ahead 10-3 midway through the second quarter, aided by a key penalty on Washington cornerback Benjamin St-Juste. Derrick Henry capped that drive with a 3-yard touchdown run.

However, the Commanders quickly responded with a 70-yard drive. Daniels moved the offense efficiently, making passes of 15 yards to Noah Brown, 25 yards to Austin Ekeler, and 11 yards to Dyami Brown.

He also converted a third down with a scramble before connecting with Terry McLaurin for a perfect 7-yard pass in the back of the end zone, tying the game at 10-10.

Arizona Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Assessed for Concussion After Leaving Game Against Green Bay Packers

The Arizona Cardinals faced a tough first half against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, dealing with multiple injuries, including to Marvin Harrison Jr. and two starting defenders.

The rookie wide receiver took a hard hit to the head while trying to catch a pass but was unable to complete either of his two targets. He was checked for a concussion, according to the team.

After initially leaving the blue medical tent, he was seen on the sideline looking ready to return. However, coaches decided to take him to the locker room instead, as reported by azcentral’s Theo Mackie.

By the time he left for the locker room, the Cardinals had only completed two passes and were trailing 24-7 after scoring on their first full drive without Harrison. They added a field goal, ending the half down 24-10.

Linebacker Kyzir White also left the game with a knee injury and was listed as questionable to return.

Defensive lineman Bilal Nichols left with a stinger and was ruled out. Depth safety Joey Blount was also questionable to return due to a hamstring injury.

Arizona struggled to stop the Packers’ run game, which averaged 4.8 yards on 15 carries for a total of 72 yards in the first half. Running back Jacobs led the way with 46 yards on 11 carries, averaging 4.2 yards per carry.

The Cardinals had linebacker depth coming into the game, including Jesse Luketa, who had a key forced fumble in a previous win against the San Francisco 49ers. Victor Dimukeje, who has made three tackles and one tackle for loss in three games, was inactive for this game.

The Arizona defense had a rocky first quarter, with three offsides penalties, despite being the least penalized team in the NFL before this game.

Golden State Valkyries Coach Shares Team Motto Before Their Inaugural WNBA Season

Head coach Natalie Nakase of the Golden State Valkyries is already setting a team motto for the new franchise. “How I create my team culture is choosing 12 players that have a very competitive mindset, who work extremely hard,” Nakase said in a video shared on the Valkyries’ Instagram.

“The baseline is just being a great human being, you don’t always just think about yourself but you think about your teammates constantly. That’s pretty much going to be my motto is team over self with anything on or off the court.”

The Valkyries officially announced Nakase as their first head coach earlier this week. She spent the last three years as an assistant coach with the Las Vegas Aces, where the team won back-to-back WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023.

The expansion team recognized that Nakase was the right choice to lead the Valkyries in their first season. “Core qualities that I see Natalie bringing to the Valkyries are the foundations of what our culture will be,” said Ohemaa Nyanin, the general manager of the Valkyries.

“She brings a quality of empathy, the foundations of being able to meet people where they’re at. She brings so much joy to all those that surround her. She’s the best.”

Before her three years in Las Vegas, Nakase worked for 11 seasons in different positions with the Los Angeles Clippers. Her last job with the NBA team was as an assistant coach and player development coach. Nakase started her coaching career in 2008 with the Women’s Professional Basketball German League.

She first became a head coach for the Wolfenbuttel Wildcats for two seasons. From 2010 to 2011, she was an assistant coach for the Tokyo Apache in the Men’s Professional Basketball Japan League. In 2011, she became head coach for the Saitama Broncos, making her the first woman to hold that position in the league.

“She exemplifies every character trait in what we were looking for in a head coach and possesses deep expertise across professional basketball,” Nyanin said. “Her journey is representative of the grit and perseverance that our team will embody to achieve our ultimate goal of winning championships.”

Nakase’s interview process with the Valkyries started around the Olympic break. After the season ended with the Aces, she moved to the Bay Area for a permanent position.

Dallas Mavericks’ Klay Thompson Reflects on His First Game Away from the Golden State Warriors

NBA All-Star guard Klay Thompson, who has been a longtime player for the Golden State Warriors, is now officially a member of the Dallas Mavericks. He played his first game for the Mavericks on Thursday against the Utah Jazz, and he felt very nervous as a five-time All-Star.

Thompson shared with the media that he had a lot of butterflies as he got ready to play for Dallas for the first time. “I haven’t been that nervous, I don’t think, since the 2015 Finals Game 1,” Thompson said.

“It felt so good just to go out there and play and work those jitters out. It was a new experience, and it’s a natural feeling when you’ve been somewhere so long and to be somewhere new in a new environment. To finally put the uniform on, it felt amazing.”

In his Dallas debut, Thompson played for 18 minutes and started the game. The 34-year-old scored 10 points, had three assists, and shot 3-for-9 from the field, including 3-for-5 from three-point range.

After spending 13 years with one team, he is now in a new situation. However, he is looking forward to this next chapter in his life and is feeling welcomed by the Dallas fans. “It feels great to be embraced by the fan base,” said Thompson.

“It inspires me every day to work my hardest and be the best I can be. I know I made the right decision, especially with what I’ve felt tonight and the past few weeks with the team.”

“I’m just excited to experience a new chapter,” said Thompson, who rested during the Mavericks’ preseason opener on Monday night. “It’s going to be special. I just know it.”

Not only is Thompson on a new team, but he also has a new number, No. 31. He spent the first 13 years of his career with the Warriors, where he built a Hall of Fame career. During those 13 years, he won four NBA championships, was a five-time All-Star, a two-time All-NBA player, and made the 2019 All-Defensive Second Team. Now, Thompson is starting fresh with the Mavericks.

Dallas is thrilled to have Thompson, along with former Mavericks champion guard Jason Terry. Terry expressed his excitement about Thompson wearing a headband for his debut, just like he did throughout his career.

“The fact that he got the headband on, too, I’m elated,” Terry said. “All I said [to Thompson] is all he owes me is to make some shots. That’s it. Do the number right, that’s it. Make some shots. And he’ll do it. I think he’s going to play with a lot to prove.

Obviously, he did some great things, historical things with Golden State, and he’s looking to turn a page and go to another chapter and make another mark on his legacy here with Dallas.”

Milwaukee Bucks Coach Doc Rivers Criticizes Unusual Decision Made by Los Angeles Lakers This Offseason

As the new NBA season begins, the Milwaukee Bucks are eager to regain their position as one of the top teams in the league. Last year, they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, partly due to key injuries at a bad time.

With co-stars Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo still on the team, Milwaukee is feeling optimistic about their chances. This offseason, they brought back a familiar face to their coaching staff: former assistant coach Darvin Ham.

Ham was the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers for the past two seasons before being let go. He previously worked with the Bucks under former head coach Mike Budenholzer and helped them win the NBA title in 2021.

Bucks head coach Doc Rivers has a lot of respect for Ham, which influenced his decision to bring him back. Rivers defended Ham, saying that the Lakers’ choice to fire him “makes no sense.” “It’s been great.

First of all, he’s been here even longer than me. He knows things that I didn’t know. He has relationships with the players. Another guy that can trust. Trust is so important for players.

Doc Rivers
Doc Rivers (NBA)

And more importantly, he deserves it. I’m not going to get into the whole thing that happened there, but he took a team to a Western Finals, and then the following year, he won the in-season tournament, which they say we should have a lot of value on, and then they release him.

It literally makes no sense, but it happens. It happens to all of us. It’s part of what we do. But Darvin Ham’s a coach, he should be on the sidelines, and I wanted him next to me.”

Ham had a mixed experience with the Lakers, leading them to the Western Conference Finals in his first year. However, some of his unusual rotations and lack of preparation led to his dismissal.

Now, back with the Bucks, Ham is focused on helping the team return to success. He knows that if he performs well, he could be considered for another head coaching position soon.

This season, the Bucks will face tough competition from teams like the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference. It won’t be easy, but the Bucks believe they can come out on top this year.

Jacksonville Jaguars Player Claims Teammates Gave Up During Loss to Chicago Bears

The NFL is continuing its games in London, taking the league to an international level while remaining the most popular sport in the United States.

Expanding the game has been a key goal for the NFL in recent years, and during Week 6, the Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars played in front of fans across the ocean. It was an exciting matchup for two quarterbacks who were both No. 1 overall picks.

Caleb Williams, the rookie quarterback for the Bears, has been showing his potential week after week. The Bears dominated the Jaguars, with Williams throwing for four of Chicago’s five touchdowns. He is proving to be an elite talent and justifying his selection as the most recent No. 1 overall pick.

Chicago Bears players celebrates after scoring

The Bears improved to a record of 4-2 this season, showing strong signs of growth, while the Jaguars lost again, dropping to 1-5 after the 35-16 defeat. The Jaguars were clearly outmatched in this game, and their morale is suffering early in the season.

Following the loss, Jacksonville safety Andre Cisco spoke to the media, criticizing his teammates. “How should I say this…. A lot of quit,” Cisco stated.

Cisco’s comments suggest that the Jaguars’ locker room may be struggling. This doesn’t mean what he said isn’t accurate. Once Williams got going, the Bears kept scoring, totaling 35 points.

After starting the season reasonably well on defense, the Jaguars have struggled lately, allowing at least 35 points in three of their last four games. Cisco did manage to make a first-half interception against the Bears in Week 6.

Recent Update Discloses New Developments in Davante Adams and Las Vegas Raiders Scenario

It seemed like Davante Adams was ready to move to New York or New Orleans, but things might have changed. According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Las Vegas Raiders may not trade him after all.

Schefter said that the Raiders do not plan to trade the six-time Pro Bowl receiver just for the sake of it; they want to be fairly compensated.

They are looking for at least a second-round pick and do not want to take on any of Adams’ contract if they do make a trade. These high demands have led to a lack of strong interest from other teams, according to Schefter.

Schefter also mentioned that Aidan O’Connell is the starting quarterback, which might make Adams happier about staying with the team. The star receiver apparently really likes O’Connell.

“But Adams is a big believer in O’Connell and privately has called him one of the best quarterbacks with whom he has played, according to sources,” Schefter wrote.

“Playing with O’Connell is said to be appealing to Adams, who will sit out his third straight game Sunday because of a hamstring injury.” If Adams returns and O’Connell can get back into a rhythm, the Raiders might have some exciting possibilities ahead.

Caleb Williams powers the Chicago Bears to a significant victory against the Jaguars in London

The Chicago Bears started slowly on Sunday in Week 6, going three-and-out on their first two drives and letting the Jacksonville Jaguars take a 3-0 lead early on.

However, quarterback Caleb Williams and the offense quickly found their rhythm, while the defense played strongly, leading to a 35-16 victory.

Williams began the game with just 1-for-3 passing and took a sack on the first six plays. But after that, he took control of the game. He finished with 23 completions out of 29 attempts for 226 yards, throwing four touchdowns and only one interception.

This marked the second straight game where his passer rating was over 120, and he grew more confident as the game progressed.

After falling behind 3-0, Williams threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Cole Kmet in the second quarter, showcasing a well-designed play.

Caleb Williams throws in the 1st half

The two connected again at the end of the first half, with Williams hitting Kmet for a two-yard touchdown, giving the Bears a 14-3 lead at halftime. The second half continued the Bears’ strong play.

Keenan Allen caught his first touchdown of the season on a nine-yard pass from Williams, extending Chicago’s lead to 21-3. This was the first time a Bears rookie quarterback had thrown three touchdown passes in a game since Cade McNown in 1999.

Williams and Allen connected once more in the fourth quarter, this time on a three-yard pass, keeping Chicago ahead at 28-10.

A touchdown run by D’Andre Swift was followed by two touchdowns from the Jaguars to finish the scoring in the game.

Chicago now goes into their bye week with a record of 4-1 and a four-game winning streak. They will return to play in Week 8 against the Washington Commanders, who are led by rookie Jayden Daniels.

Nick Sirianni’s Fresh Look Gains Attention Ahead of Philadelphia Eagles vs. Cleveland Browns

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to bounce back from their Week 5 bye with a 2-2 record as they prepare to face the Cleveland Browns at home in Week 6. The Eagles lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 33-16, in Week 4, leading to questions about the team’s recent performance.

The good news for the Eagles is that the Browns are struggling with a 1-4 record and have their own concerns, especially about quarterback Deshaun Watson’s performance.

Before the game, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni grabbed attention with a new look, showing up with a fresh haircut. Fans had mixed feelings about Sirianni’s new style.

One fan expressed hope that for Sirianni, it meant “new haircut, new him,” adding that what they had seen before wasn’t good.

Another fan commented, “Oh it’s never been more over,” while someone else shared, “This inspires negative confidence with me. He’s like an emotional middle schooler.”

Comments comparing Sirianni to Britney Spears also surfaced. One fan said, “Went and pulled a Britney Spears,” and another noted, “Britney in 07.” Another wrote, “On fourth down he’s like ‘Baby one more time’ and then he’s all ‘Oops!…I did it again.'”

In less than an hour, Nick Clark’s original post had over 290,000 views, indicating that Sirianni’s new haircut has quickly drawn attention before the game against the Browns.

The Dallas Mavericks’ backup plan at center may not be as concerning as it appears

The Dallas Mavericks are halfway through their preseason games, with less than two weeks left until the regular season starts. On Thursday, Dallas got a quick look at its starting lineup, featuring Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, and Dereck Lively II.

This was a significant moment for the team, as it was Thompson’s first game with Dallas. The former “Splash Brother” had an impressive debut, meeting the expectations he set during Media Day. Thompson shot 60 percent from the 3-point line and scored 10 points.

Another highlight for Thompson was his defense. He did a great job of blocking passing lanes and forced scorers into difficult shots.

This was very encouraging for Mavericks fans, especially since some NBA experts had questioned the team’s decision to sign an older star like Thompson. They mainly worried that he wasn’t the same defender he used to be. He proved those doubts wrong on Thursday.

Another player who stood out on Thursday was undrafted rookie Jamarion Sharp. He made an impact with six points, five rebounds, and four blocks in just 12 minutes. Sharp did a great job protecting the paint, not hesitating to go for a dunk or challenge shots inside.

Dallas Mavericks vs Los Angeles Clippers

It’s easy to see why Dallas signed Sharp to a one-year contract back in August. The young center showed his skills in the summer by playing a key role with the Mavs’ Summer League team. He averaged 2.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks in 14.6 minutes. Sharp especially impressed during the team’s last summer game, scoring three points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and blocking five shots.

In college, Sharp was known for being a strong rim protector. He ranked ninth in blocks per game and led Conference USA during his two seasons. Sharp has the potential to be a great defender for Dallas in the future.

However, it’s unlikely he will make the 15-man roster. Still, his growth could be important for the team’s future decisions. If he doesn’t make the cut, the Mavs could add him to their Legends roster.

If Sharp develops into a top center, it could create competition for Dwight Powell or Daniel Gafford. Both centers would need to keep improving if they want to stay ahead of Sharp. Dallas might sign the young center to a two-way contract if they let go of Powell or Gafford.

This all depends on whether Sharp shows progress. The good news is that the Mavs aren’t there yet, and things could change. On the bright side, Dallas has many promising centers in the pipeline.
