Indianapolis police announced on Wednesday that they have started looking into an altercation involving an “NBA player and citizen” at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This follows an incident where Bucks guard Patrick Beverley threw a ball at a fan during the final moments of a game against the Pacers.

According to a news release, the case has been passed on to detectives who are currently investigating the matter seriously. Once the investigation is complete, the detectives will present their findings to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Video footage captured Beverley sitting on the bench and tossing a ball into the stands, hitting a fan in the head with about 2 ½ minutes remaining in the game on May 2nd. After another fan threw the ball back to Beverley, he threw it back at that spectator.

Beverley addressed his actions on an episode of “The Pat Bev Podcast” released on Wednesday. He mentioned being called a word he had never heard before but acknowledged that his behavior was still unacceptable.
