Raúl Ruidíaz scored twice in the first half as the Seattle Sounders grabbed their first win of the season, beating CF Montreal 5-0 on Saturday night.

The Sounders took the lead in the 20th minute when Jackson Ragen set up Ruidíaz, who fired a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the net.

Ruidíaz doubled his tally with a penalty kick in the 27th minute after Albert Rusnák was fouled in the box by Montreal defender Joel Waterman.

Seattle extended their lead to three goals early in the second half when Jordan Morris scored his first goal of the season, assisted by Cristian Roldan.

Montreal’s task became harder when Nathan Saliba received a red card in the 53rd minute, leaving them with 10 men for the rest of the game.

Stefan Frei made two saves to secure his first clean sheet of the season for the Sounders, while Jonathan Sirois saved six shots for Montreal.

Seattle managed to contain Montreal’s Matías Cóccaro, who had been in good form with three goals and an assist in previous matches.

Montreal, playing their first season under manager Laurent Courtois, had started with six away games. They will play their first home game against FC Cincinnati next Saturday, while the Sounders will travel to face FC Dallas.
