Shea Langeliers has been hitting hard against his hometown team, the Texas Rangers. In the first game of a doubleheader, Langeliers hit a two-run homer and drove in a career-high five runs. He then added three more RBIs in Game 2 as the Oakland Athletics split the two games with the Rangers on Wednesday.

The A’s won the first game 9-4, but Texas held on for a 12-11 victory in the nightcap. Jonah Heim and Nathaniel Lowe each contributed three RBIs for the Rangers.

Oakland scored four runs in the ninth inning of the second game, but Kirby Yates secured his seventh save by retiring Tyler Nevin on a flyball to right with runners on first and second.

In the second game, Langeliers hit another two-run homer and had a run-scoring groundout. He broke the Oakland record for RBIs in a doubleheader, surpassing Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson, who drove in seven runs on Aug. 24, 1969, against Baltimore.

Reflecting on his performance, Langeliers said, “That’s crazy. I saw the ball really well today. I thought I put good swings on good pitches to hit, just one of those days for me where I came through and got some RBIs on the board for the team.”

He described the day as “wild,” noting the strong offensive performances from both teams.
