The Seattle Mariners moved starting pitcher Emerson Hancock to Triple-A Tacoma and placed reliever Tayler Saucedo on the 15-day injured list due to a hyperextended right knee on Wednesday.

Hancock had a challenging outing in his last game, allowing four runs in four innings against Minnesota on Tuesday. The sixth overall pick in the 2020 amateur draft has a record of 3-3 with a 5.24 ERA in seven starts, giving up six home runs in 34 1/3 innings.

To fill Hancock’s spot in the rotation on Sunday, the Mariners plan to bring Bryan Woo into play. Woo hasn’t pitched this season due to elbow inflammation.

The Mariners received positive news about Saucedo’s injury, which occurred while covering first base on Tuesday and forced him out of the game. He has an ERA of 2.70 in 13 1/3 innings.

To strengthen the bullpen, Eduard Bazardo has been reinstated from the injured list, and Kirby Snead has been recalled from Tacoma. Bazardo hasn’t pitched this season due to a strained rotator cuff.

Snead’s first game will mark his debut with the Mariners, making him the 1,000th player in franchise history to appear in a game.
