Bibee, with a record of 4-1, gave up only one run and three hits in 6 1/3 innings, striking out seven batters and walking one. The Nationals managed to score their only run of the game with an RBI double by Eddie Rosario in the seventh inning.
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt praised Bibee’s performance, highlighting his exceptional pitching throughout the game. Bibee left the game with a one-run lead, and the Guardians capitalized on it with a four-run seventh inning.
Josh Naylor drove in a run with a groundout, followed by Fry’s eighth homer of the season, extending the lead with a powerful hit to left-center field.
Fry, who made his major league debut last season, has become a key player for the Guardians, boasting a .352 batting average in 40 games. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the team’s success.
Steven Kwan, returning from the injured list, made an immediate impact with three hits, two runs scored, and a walk. Despite striking out in his first at-bat, Kwan ended his streak of 74 plate appearances without a strikeout and contributed with a bloop single in the eighth inning to seal the victory for the Guardians.
