The Czech Tennis Federation finds itself embroiled in controversy as authorities conducted a raid at its headquarters, resulting in the charging of ten individuals, including president Ivo Kaderka, with fraud.

The charges stem from alleged subsidy fraud involving millions of Czech korunas earmarked for tennis and youth sports organizations.

Key figures implicated in the fraud include Ivo Kaderka, the federation’s president, along with financial director Hana Baierova and board member Vojtech Flegl from a Czech sports association, according to police reports.

The National Sports Agency of the Czech Republic acknowledged the investigation, with spokesperson Eliska Machkova confirming cooperation with authorities. However, due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, details are not disclosed.

“Because the investigation is ongoing, we are unable to provide any details relating to the case,” Machkova stated.

This controversy emerged after notable successes by Czech tennis players in 2023, with Markéta Vondroušová winning Wimbledon, Karolína Muchová reaching the French Open final and US Open semifinals, Petra Kvitová securing the Miami Open title, and Jiri Lehecka advancing to the Australian Open quarterfinals.
