Former coach to tennis icons Serena and Venus Williams, Rick Macci, recently showered praise on the legendary Steffi Graf.

Graf, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the WTA Tour, boasts an impressive tally of 22 Grand Slam titles throughout her illustrious career. Moreover, she held the prestigious World No. 1 ranking for an astonishing 377 weeks, a record only surpassed by Novak Djokovic in 2023.

The German tennis maestro stands alone in the annals of tennis history as the sole player to achieve the coveted Golden Slam, a feat accomplished by triumphing in all four Majors along with capturing the Olympic gold medal.

Given the infrequency of the Olympics, occurring once every four years, accomplishing such a feat is exceedingly rare.

Macci, renowned for coaching the Williams sisters during their formative years, recently took to social media to extol Steffi Graf’s unparalleled knack for seizing control of a point quicker than any other player on the tour.

“The greatest WTA player of all time who could take control of the point the fastest was undoubtedly STEFFI GRAF. Her inside-out forehand with extra pepper and her skidding low crosscourt slice set the stage to turn the page—a deadly combination, the best of her generation,” Macci wrote.
