Tournament director Jamie Baker mentioned they’re quietly monitoring social media to find any harmful content. They’re not only relying on players’ reports anymore. This approach is like what the French Tennis Federation did last year at the French Open. They used AI to block negative comments. Baker believes this step is positive for athletes.
AI helps at Wimbledon, but people also watch social media for harmful posts during the two-week tournament ending July 14.
Players can sign up for the service and get scans of their social media. Posts might include angry comments from gamblers, racist remarks, or even death threats.
“If we see anything concerning, we talk to the player,” Baker said. “This helps players officially report what’s happening.”
