Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud faces far fewer questions now compared to last year.

Last July, Stroud wasn’t the confirmed starter in Houston, but he ultimately won the role and earned the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

His success has silenced doubts about his ability to perform at the pro level, leaving his potential as the main remaining question.

During a press conference on Thursday, Stroud acknowledged several areas where he can improve, starting with taking more command of the offense compared to his rookie season.

He highlighted footwork as one area needing attention but emphasized his eagerness for the Texans to entrust him with more responsibility in directing the team.

“I want to be more aggressive downfield this year and push defenses back, while also being smart and taking what the defense gives me,” Stroud said. “If it’s a simple play, I’ll stick with that and aim to be efficient. These are all things I can improve on.”

Stroud emphasized that he now feels responsible for setting the team’s standards and is prepared to take on that role in his second year.
