Jonathan India and Nick Martini each brought home two runs, helping the Cincinnati Reds secure a 4-1 victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, extending LA’s longest losing streak since 2019 to five games.

Brent Suter, Nick Martinez, Carson Spiers, and Alexis Díaz worked together for a combined five-hitter. Martinez (2-3) pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit on a bullpen day for Cincinnati, while Díaz earned his 10th save by securing the final outs.

Reds manager David Bell credited the pitchers for their performance, saying, “It starts with our pitchers… Starting with Brent Suter, who did his job. That’s where it starts. Nick Martinez took over… To pitch so well against this team really says a lot.”

This losing streak for the Dodgers is their longest since April 8-13, 2019.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed his frustration, acknowledging the team’s struggle to produce results, “When you’re not hitting, it certainly seems lifeless… They outplayed us this series and won three.”

Freddie Freeman’s RBI double in the ninth inning ended the Dodgers’ 0-for-22 drought with runners in scoring position. However, despite Freeman’s hit, the Dodgers couldn’t mount a comeback, as Díaz struck out Teoscar Hernández and Andy Pages to end the game.

The game’s start time was moved due to the threat of severe storms, and the teams endured a delay of just over an hour during the sixth inning.

Cincinnati took control of the game in the third inning, scoring four runs against Yoshinobu Yamamoto (5-2). India’s bases-loaded single and Martini’s bloop hit contributed to the Reds’ offensive surge.
