The Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins had to cancel their game on Sunday due to rain. They’ve set a new date for the game, planning a split doubleheader on August 9.

The Twins made the call to postpone the series finale three hours before the game was supposed to start. Weather forecasts predicted rain throughout the afternoon and likely into the night. The Guardians had been performing well in the first two games, winning 3-1 on Saturday and 4-2 on Friday.

The Guardians, currently leading the AL Central with a 7-2 record, were set to return home for an exciting game on Monday afternoon, just a few hours after a solar eclipse, which Cleveland residents were eagerly anticipating.

They’ll be facing the Chicago White Sox in a three-game series.

Meanwhile, the Twins, with a record of 3-4, will be hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers and the popular Shohei Ohtani in a three-game series starting on Monday night.

The rescheduled game between the Guardians and Twins will kick off at 1:10 p.m. local time as part of a Friday afternoon doubleheader, preceding the originally scheduled 7:10 p.m. game. This will extend the series to four games.
