The New York Jets made significant moves on the first day of the NFL’s legal tampering period, addressing key areas of concern and bolstering their roster.

Firstly, veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor agreed to a two-year contract with the Jets, providing valuable experience and depth behind Aaron Rodgers. The deal is reportedly worth up to $18 million, offering stability to the quarterback position.

The Jets secured protection for their offensive line by agreeing to terms with former Baltimore guard John Simpson on a two-year, $18 million deal. Simpson is expected to step in as the starting left guard, adding strength and reliability to the line.

On the defensive side, the Jets signed former San Francisco defensive tackle Jason Kilar to a one-year contract. With his imposing presence, Kinlaw will complement the Jets’ defensive front alongside Quinnen Williams and John Franklin-Myers.

Furthermore, the Jets ensured continuity in their kicking game by re-signing kicker Greg Zuerlein to a two-year contract worth $8.4 million, with $4.2 million guaranteed. Zuerlein’s consistency and reliability were evident last season, making him a valuable asset to the team.

In terms of departures, the Jets lost edge rusher Bryce Huff to the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year deal worth $51 million. However, the Jets have been proactive in addressing their needs and are poised to make further moves as free agency progresses.

Overall, the Jets have made strategic moves to strengthen their roster, addressing key areas of concern and positioning themselves for success in the upcoming season.
