The New York Yankees added right-hander Jake Cousins to their roster on Sunday, acquiring him from the Chicago White Sox for cash.
Cousins, who is 29 years old, had a 4.82 ERA in 9 1/3 innings across nine relief appearances for the Milwaukee Brewers last year. He allowed five runs, 10 hits, and 10 walks while striking out seven batters.
Additionally, he posted a 3-2 record with a 6.35 ERA in 29 relief appearances for Triple-A Nashville and Sugar Land, as well as in the Arizona Complex League Brewers.
After being claimed off waivers by Houston on July 31, Cousins was later assigned outright to the minors on Sept. 1. He then signed a minor league contract with the White Sox on Dec. 5.
During spring training with Chicago, he recorded a 0-1 record with a 1.29 ERA across seven appearances. Cousins has amassed a 3-1 record with a 3.08 ERA over three seasons in the major leagues with the Brewers.
