Justin Turner slammed two home runs, while Danny Jansen also hit a solo homer as the Toronto Blue Jays narrowly defeated the Kansas City Royals 6-5 on Monday night.

Turner’s first home run, a two-run shot, came in the opening inning, followed by another solo homer in the third. These homers marked his third and fourth of the season, and the 16th time he achieved a multihomer game in his career.

Jansen’s contribution also came in the third inning, marking his second homer of the season.

This win was significant for the Blue Jays, as it ended a streak of 21 games without scoring more than five runs, dating back to their loss against the Yankees on April 6.

Turner highlighted the team’s improved performance, particularly in making solid contact with the ball. He emphasized the importance of quality contact over simply hitting hard balls into the ground.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. contributed with two hits and an RBI, aiding Toronto’s consecutive wins after losing five straight games.

The Blue Jays managed to secure their first victory of the season in 12 games when their opponent scored at least five runs.

Royals’ catcher Salvador Perez was initially sidelined due to a tight back but managed to deliver a pinch-hit single in the ninth inning. Although Perez experienced discomfort earlier in the day, he insisted he was fully fit by the game’s conclusion.

Nate Pearson secured the save for Toronto, striking out Kansas City’s Michael Massey and leaving the tying run stranded at third base. This marked Pearson’s first save of the season, filling in for regular closer Jordan Romano and fellow right-hander Yimi Garcia, who were both unavailable.
