Bruno Silva plans to appeal his controversial loss to Chris Weidman at UFC Atlantic City

UFC fighter Bruno Silva is gearing up to challenge the outcome of his recent match against Chris Weidman, which ended controversially last weekend.

In a highly anticipated showdown on Saturday night, Bruno Silva faced off against former UFC champion Chris Weidman. Despite initially securing what seemed like a stoppage victory, Weidman’s win was later altered to a technical decision. However, the match was marred by significant controversy.

Observers pointed out multiple instances where Weidman appeared to poke Silva in the eye during the fight. These eye pokes, coupled with a series of impactful shots from Weidman, contributed to Silva’s defeat.

Expressing his frustration in a recent interview, Bruno Silva didn’t mince words about his disappointment with the outcome.

Silva conveyed his frustration, stating, “The referee’s decisions were baffling. He made mistakes and then compounded them. At the very least, the result should have been a no-contest. There’s no way around it. He inserted his finger into my eye.”

He further added, “We believe it’s difficult for Chris Weidman to agree to a rematch, but a no-contest outcome would be just. Let’s wait and see what the UFC decides. All I’m asking for is fairness and justice. I stepped into that octagon, fought with all my heart, and there was no ill intent on my part.”

Reflecting on the critical moments of the match, Silva recounted, “Initially, I thought the referee halted the fight due to my eye injury, but then I saw Weidman celebrating. I couldn’t believe he had knocked me out. I’ve never been knocked out in my career. Fueled by anger, I stood up, demanding the referee to review the footage on the big screen. I wanted to confront him, but I knew it could jeopardize my career. I had to maintain control.”

“After the fight, during medical checks backstage, my cornerman informed me that the result had been altered. I felt a sense of relief, thinking it might be ruled a no-contest. However, to my bewilderment, it was declared a unanimous win for Weidman. He had poked me in the eye in the second and third rounds, yet he still walked away with a unanimous decision victory?”
