Arizona Cardinals receiver Zay Jones has been banned without pay for the first five games of the season for breaching the NFL’s personal conduct policy, the league announced on Friday.

The NFL did not give a reason for the suspension.

In 2023, Jones was arrested in Florida on a misdemeanor battery charge. Police said he had a dispute with the mother of his child and left scratches on her neck. The charge was dropped in March.

Jones, who is 29, will be allowed to return for the Cardinals’ game on October 13 at Green Bay.

The Cardinals signed Jones to a one-year contract in May, hoping he would add depth to their receiving group, which includes rookie Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson, and Greg Dortch.

Jones had his best season in 2022 with Jacksonville, catching 82 passes for 823 yards and five touchdowns. He was a second-round pick out of East Carolina in 2017 by Buffalo.
