Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has dismissed rumors of retirement after this season. Despite a down year in terms of performance, Kelce expressed his love for the game and his desire to continue playing. He emphasized the challenge of striving to be his best every day and stated that he had no intention of stopping anytime soon.
Kelce’s retirement talk originated from a June Vanity Fair profile where he discussed his plans for life after football. Outside of the game, Kelce has been involved in various endeavors such as commercials, hosting a podcast with his brother Jason Kelce, and even hosting “Saturday Night Live.” He also gained attention for his relationship with Taylor Swift, which made waves in pop culture.
While Kelce has a lot going on outside of football, he remains focused on the Chiefs’ upcoming wild-card game against the Miami Dolphins. He assured that this game won’t be his last and that he intends to fulfill his contract, which extends until the 2025 season.
Kelce acknowledged the opportunities he has had outside of sports, particularly in the entertainment industry. However, he believes that pursuing a new career path is still far down the road for him at this point in his career.
The Chiefs had a different journey this year, finishing with an 11-6 record, their highest loss total since 2017. They didn’t showcase the same explosiveness as in previous seasons. Nevertheless, their primary goal now is to secure a third Super Bowl ring.
