Hailing from Clearwater Academy International in Florida, Zandamela originally signed with USC in December as a highly touted prospect, ranking as the top interior offensive lineman and 46th overall in the 2024 class. His transfer to Florida adds depth and talent to the Gators’ roster, particularly noteworthy as the highest-rated freshman among USC’s recent signees.
Following his stint at USC’s spring practice, Zandamela entered the transfer portal in mid-April, expressing a desire to return to Florida. Several schools, including UCF and Florida, vied for his services, with Zandamela ultimately choosing the Gators after an official visit to Gainesville at the end of April.
Zandamela’s versatility positions him as a potential center or guard for Florida’s offensive line, offering flexibility as the coaching staff evaluates his role. With established starters like Jake Slaughter at center, the Gators have time to integrate Zandamela into the lineup gradually, ensuring he’s prepared for the rigors of SEC competition.
Despite his limited experience in American football, Zandamela’s rapid adaptation and development present an intriguing prospect for Florida. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 307 pounds, he brings physical prowess to the field, coupled with his background in rugby.
