Top-ranked Iga Świątek and U.S. Open champion Coco Gauff were eliminated from the Miami Open. Swiatek was defeated by Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-4, 6-2 on Monday night, while Gauff lost to Caroline Garcia 6-3, 1-6, 6-2.
In the men’s draw, top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz moved to the round of 16 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Gaël Monfils. Alexandrova will face Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals, following her victory over Swiatek.
Swiatek acknowledged Alexandrova’s impressive performance.
Garcia advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Gauff. She expressed her gratitude for the support of her team during challenging times.
