Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (Nissan) and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda) have jointly announced today the signing of a memorandum of understanding, marking the commencement of a feasibility study for a strategic partnership focusing on vehicle electrification and intelligence.

In alignment with the shared commitment towards achieving carbon neutrality and eliminating traffic accidents, both companies recognize the imperative of fortifying their environmental and electrification technologies, alongside software development. The decision to embark on this feasibility study stems from the acknowledgment that merging their respective strengths holds promise for potential future collaboration.

The scope of this feasibility study encompasses automotive software platforms, key components pertinent to electric vehicles (EVs), and supplementary products.

Makoto Uchida, President and CEO of Nissan, expressed, “Anticipating the escalating pace of mobility transformation in the mid-to-long-term, this agreement underscores the significance of our mutual recognition with Honda regarding shared challenges. We eagerly anticipate further deliberations and endeavor to uncover mutually beneficial avenues for sustainable growth.”

Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President, and Representative Executive Officer of Honda, remarked, “Amidst this era of profound transformation within the automotive sector, we are poised to explore the potential collaboration between Nissan and Honda.
