Rory Mcllroy, a four-time major championship winner, has firmly stated his intention to conclude his career on the PGA Tour, refuting claims made by a London newspaper that he was offered a staggering $850 million and an equity stake in the LIV Golf League.

Speaking from the practice range at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, Mcllroy expressed bewilderment at the rumors surrounding his potential involvement with the LIV Golf League, financed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

He emphasized that neither he nor his representatives have entertained any discussions regarding a move to the league.

Mcllroy clarified his stance, saying, “I honestly don’t know how these things get started. I’ve never been offered a number from LIV, and I’ve never contemplated going to LIV.”

Despite his personal decision to stay on the PGA Tour, Mcllroy maintained respect for players who have chosen differently: “People can make their own decisions for whatever they think is best for themselves, and who are we to judge them for that?”

Sean O’Flaherty, Mcllroy’s agent, dismissed the report as “fake news,” reaffirming McIlroy’s unwavering dedication to the PGA Tour.

While negotiations between the PGA Tour and the PIF are ongoing, Mcllroy remains steadfast in his commitment to the Tour, denouncing any speculation of his potential involvement with LIV Golf.

In recent months, Mcllroy has softened his stance on players returning to the PGA Tour from LIV Golf, signaling a potential shift in his perspective on the contentious issue.

Despite the ongoing discourse surrounding LIV Golf and its impact on the golfing landscape, Mcllroy remains resolute in his allegiance to the PGA Tour, affirming his position as one of its most prominent figures.
