The Los Angeles Sparks have agreed to extend their stay at Crypto.com Arena for another five years, continuing through 2029. The deal with arena owner AEG was announced on Tuesday.
The Sparks, one of the original teams in the WNBA, have been playing at the downtown arena since 2001, where they have won three league championships. It’s also where Lisa Leslie made history with the league’s first dunk.
The team shares the arena with the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and NHL’s Los Angeles Kings. The NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers have moved to their new arena in nearby Inglewood. Previously, from 1997 to 2000, the Sparks played at the Forum.
“We have created a lot of memorable moments in this venue, and I look forward to witnessing more historic events in the years to come,” said Eric Holoman, managing partner and governor of the Sparks.
