Wrexham AFC, despite its recent fame through celebrity ownership by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, is making waves on the soccer pitch. In their second year under this ownership, the team has secured promotion to League One, the third tier of English soccer, with a convincing 6–0 victory over Forest Green.
This marks the first time in their history that Wrexham has achieved consecutive promotions. The match saw an impressive first-half performance, with goals from Elliot Lee, Paul Mullins (twice), and an own goal by Forest Green’s Ryan Inniss. Ryan Barnett and Jack Marriott added to the tally in the second half. Wrexham fans celebrated the achievement by storming the pitch.

Securing promotion required not only Wrexham’s victory but also losses by MK Dons and Barrow. Both these clubs fell in their respective matches, facilitating Wrexham’s rise. Although Wrexham could potentially clinch the League Two title, they are currently in second place, four points behind Stockport, who also have a game in hand.
However, even if they don’t claim the title, Wrexham is guaranteed a top-three finish and a spot in League One next season. This marks a remarkable turnaround for the club, which just last season earned promotion to the English Football League after winning the National League for the first time in 15 years. With this promotion, Wrexham is now just two tiers away from the prestigious English Premier League.
