USA: The WWE Raw event after Payback 2023 featured Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Ricochet, and Seth Rollins somehow got himself involved in their world title match.
While most of the fanbase enjoyed the match, WWE Veteran Vince Russo explained his problem with the match.
Former WWE writer Russo pointed out the inconsequential nature of the Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Ricochet match.
Russo said his problem with the match was that the contest meant nothing, as there was a third person involved, and the match wasn’t going to have a clear winner.
While employed by WWE, Vince Russo was against the matches that served little to no purpose. This is why Russo believed that Nakamura and Ricochet’s raw involvement fell under the same category.
Here is what Russo said sarcastically in an interview with SportsKeeda:
“There is no point. Just so that they could have a good match, this is a great match for the marks, bro,” Russo stated on Legion of RAW. “Nakamura against Ricochet, this is probably five stars. We can put them out there for as long as we want. Four and three-quarters, we won’t have a finish because Rollins is going to hit the ring. That’s all this is. It all means zero.” [43:00 – 44:00]
The challenger, Shinsuke Nakamura’s game plan was clear – attack the champion, Seth Rollins’ already injured back.
To some extent, Nakamura executed his flawlessly when he smashed Rollins onto the monitors on the announce table. After delivering a pedigree, Seth Rollins successfully retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura.
After the match, Nakamura’s attack on Rollins made it clear that he was not done with their rivalry just yet.
During this week’s Raw, Seth Rollins offered Nakamura one more chance at his World Heavyweight Title.
Shinsuke had other plans, and he initiated a brawl with Rollins. Shortly after, Shinsuke was disqualified, and a Payback rematch is just around the corner.
Shinsuke Nakamura and Seth Rollins match was one of the highest tweeted on on X (Twitter) at the time of the match.
