Manchester United has reportedly set their sights on KRC Genk’s Bilal El Khannouss, a player also attracting interest from Liverpool. The 19-year-old midfielder has established himself as a key figure for Genk since the 2022-23 season, showcasing versatility in various roles on the pitch.
As per Football Transfers, Manchester United is prioritizing the recruitment of young talents over experienced stars, with El Khannouss emerging as a primary target for the winter transfer window. However, Liverpool is also monitoring the progress of the former Belgium U18 international, viewing him as a potential future asset.
Valued at around £26 million, El Khannouss could offer valuable depth to Manchester United’s midfield, complementing captain Bruno Fernandes and newcomer Mason Mount. Similarly, if he joins Liverpool, he would add competition in their midfield setup alongside players like Harvey Elliott and Ryan Gravenberch.
El Khannouss, whose contract extends until June 2027, has already amassed four goals and 10 assists in 76 appearances for Genk across various competitions.
In a separate development, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag reacted to Jürgen Klopp’s announcement of leaving Liverpool at the end of the current season. Acknowledging Klopp’s significant impact on the Premier League, ten Hag praised the German’s achievements and expressed understanding towards his decision to step down after nine years of intense involvement with the club.
