Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand predicts a loss for the Red Devils in their upcoming match against city rivals Manchester City at the Etihad on March 3.
United’s recent 2-1 defeat against Fulham at Old Trafford has left them in a challenging position, sitting sixth in the league standings and trailing City by a significant margin.
With an upcoming FA Cup fifth-round fixture against Nottingham Forest on February 28 preceding their clash with City, Ferdinand expressed doubts about United’s chances. He stated:
“It’s going to be a long day, man. It’s hard enough to go to the Etihad anyway, but we’re going there with no confidence. I think we get beat by two goals. Convincingly.”
Manchester City’s impressive form, being unbeaten in their last 17 matches across competitions, further adds to Ferdinand’s apprehensions. City’s recent 1-0 away victory against Bournemouth underscores their dominance, with an FA Cup fifth-round encounter against Luton Town scheduled before facing Manchester United.
In their previous encounter, City secured a resounding 3-0 victory over Manchester United, with Erling Haaland netting a brace and Phil Foden adding the third goal.
