Former NFL player Char-ron Dorsey, who notably played as an offensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans, passed away on Monday at the age of 46 due to complications from a stroke.
Dorsey’s football journey began with significant achievements, including winning a college national championship at Florida State University.
His talents led him to a brief yet impactful two-season stint in the NFL. Following his professional playing career, Dorsey transitioned to coaching, dedicating himself to youth football programs in his hometown of Jacksonville.
Michael Holloway, the football coach at Terry Parker High School, expressed profound sadness over Dorsey’s passing, highlighting their two-decade-long collaboration in coaching.
Holloway emphasized Dorsey’s enduring influence on numerous young athletes who have come through their programs over the years.
Dorsey’s collegiate career at Florida State was marked by notable achievements, including being part of the undefeated national championship team in 1999 and earning All-ACC recognition for his performance as a right tackle.
Despite facing challenges that cut short his NFL journey due to injury, Dorsey continued to contribute to the sport through coaching roles at various middle and high schools in Jacksonville, where he had received accolades as a standout defensive tackle during his formative years at The Bolles School.
