Following the announcement of his free-agent contract with the New York Jets, offensive tackle Tyron Smith took a moment to express gratitude towards his former team, the Dallas Cowboys.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Smith extended his appreciation to the Cowboys organization and its devoted fans for their unwavering support throughout his remarkable 13-year tenure with the franchise. Particularly, he acknowledged the camaraderie and bond shared with his fellow offensive linemen, emphasizing that they would forever hold a cherished place in his heart.

Reflecting on his unforgettable memories, Smith reminisced about the electrifying atmosphere of running onto the field at AT&T Stadium and the thunderous applause echoing through the crowd after pivotal plays.

In a message addressed to “Cowboy Nation,” Smith conveyed his heartfelt thanks, expressing his excitement for the new chapter in his football journey while acknowledging that a part of his soul will always remain intertwined with Texas. He concluded with a hopeful note, looking forward to the day their paths may cross again.

Smith’s illustrious career with the Cowboys, marked by eight Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro honors, encompassed 161 regular-season starts and nine playoff appearances.

Transitioning to the Jets, Smith penned a one-year deal potentially worth up to $20 million, with $6.5 million guaranteed. Tasked with fortifying the Jets’ offensive line, Smith aims to shore up protection after a challenging season that witnessed the team conceding 64 sacks, including one pivotal incident resulting in quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles injury during the opening game.

Despite a 7-10 record in the 2023 season, placing third in the AFC East, the Cowboys and Jets won’t cross paths in the 2024 regular season schedule.
