Newcastle’s defender, Sven Botman, faced a setback as he sustained a significant knee injury, ruling him out of action for a potential nine-month period.
The Dutch center-back suffered an ACL injury during Newcastle’s recent 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup quarterfinals last Saturday.
According to Newcastle’s announcement, Botman’s recovery timeline is estimated to be between six and nine months.
Botman had previously experienced a knee injury earlier in the season, which kept him out of play for nearly three months. However, during that time, he opted for a non-surgical rehabilitation approach.
This latest injury poses a significant challenge to Newcastle’s aspirations of securing a spot in European competitions for the upcoming season. Currently positioned in 10th place, Newcastle trails behind West Ham in seventh by four points.
