The Bills surprised many in the NFL by trading receiver Stefon Diggs to the Texans. However, Buffalo General Manager Brandon Beane mentioned that one person who shouldn’t have been surprised was quarterback Josh Allen.
Beane said he hadn’t spoken to Allen since the trade, but he had given him a heads-up that Diggs might be traded. “I did tell [Allen] that there were some inquiries and the possibility wasn’t completely ruled out,” Beane said. Beane also plans to talk to Allen soon.
Replacing Diggs will be a challenge for the Bills, as he had impressive stats during his time with the team. He caught over 100 passes for over 1,100 yards and at least eight touchdowns in each of his four seasons with Buffalo.
“They formed a great duo,” Beane said of Diggs and Allen. “Stef made All-Pro for the first time here, and Josh also stepped up. When they were in sync, they were one of the best quarterback-receiver pairs.”
Both Allen and Diggs made their first Pro Bowl in 2020, Diggs was also named first-team All-Pro that year. Allen received second-team All-Pro honors as well. Diggs continued his Pro Bowl streak throughout his time with the Bills, also earning second-team All-Pro recognition in 2022. Allen was a Pro Bowler again in 2022.
