Milan Đurić scored twice for Monza, including a late goal, to secure a 2-2 draw against Lazio in Serie A on Saturday. This outcome made it harder for Lazio to qualify for the Champions League next season.
The draw ended Lazio’s winning streak of four matches and put them in seventh place, three points behind Roma, who currently holds the last Champions League spot. Atalanta, in sixth place, is just one point ahead of Lazio but has played two games less.
On the other hand, Sassuolo, who are fighting relegation, pulled off a surprising but important 1-0 win against Inter Milan, the newly crowned Serie A champions.
Lazio took the lead in the 11th minute with a goal from Ciro Immobile, but Monza kept pushing and equalized in the 73rd minute through Đurić. Ten minutes later, Matías Vecino scored for Lazio, but Đurić’s late header secured a point for Monza in stoppage time.
