The largest supporters’ group of the U.S. soccer team has called for coach Gregg Berhalter to be removed after the team was eliminated in the first round of the Copa America.

The American Outlaws released a statement on Wednesday, expressing their disappointment following a 1-0 loss to Uruguay.

“There needs to be accountability and a plan to move forward for the USMNT,” the Outlaws stated. “It’s time for a change in the head coaching position. Our Copa America journey ended too early.

This was a chance to demonstrate progress for the USMNT’s goals, attract thousands of new fans, and generate excitement across the country.”

Since Berhalter’s return in September, the team has recorded seven wins, six losses, and one draw.

“We have heard from our members and chapter leaders that the USMNT requires changes,” the Outlaws emphasized. “Change is essential to prepare for competing in a World Cup hosted on home soil.”
