Bologna’s preparation for its Champions League debut isn’t going smoothly, even though it managed to draw 2-2 with Como in Como’s first Serie A home game in 21 years on Saturday.

Bologna came back from being two goals down to secure a draw, earning three points from their first four matches.

Bologna will play Shakhtar Donetsk at home on Wednesday. Their only other appearance in Europe’s top competition was in 1964, in the preliminary round of the old European Cup.

AC Milan, which is also winless, is getting ready for a Champions League match against Liverpool on Tuesday. They were set to play against promoted Venezia. Juventus, who visited Empoli, remained unbeaten in Serie A.

Como started strong with a goal in the fifth minute when Patrick Cutrone’s pass was deflected by Bologna defender Nicolò Casale into the net.

Bologna hoped to get back into the game just before halftime when the referee awarded a penalty for a handball by Alberto Moreno. However, the decision was changed to a free kick because the handball was outside the penalty area.

After the break, Bologna found themselves trailing further when Cutrone scored again by running onto a pass and shooting into the far bottom corner.

Tommaso Pobega hit the post for Bologna, but they pulled one goal back in the 76th minute through substitute Santiago Castro.

Another substitute, Samuel Iling-Junior, scored a beautiful goal into the top left corner during stoppage time to secure the draw.
