San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle plans to test his injured hamstring before Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, but several reports suggest he will not play in Week 11.
Kittle experienced discomfort in his hamstring earlier in the week, but head coach Kyle Shanahan said the team doesn’t believe it will be a serious or long-term issue.
The Seahawks likely won’t mind Kittle sitting out, especially after he caught two touchdown passes in the 49ers’ 36-24 victory in Seattle on October 10. Kittle has scored seven touchdowns in his last five games against the Seahawks.
According to ESPN, the 49ers (5-4) are choosing not to risk further injury, hoping Kittle will be ready for the Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers (6-3).
A five-time Pro Bowl selection, Kittle will be replaced in the starting lineup by Eric Saubert.
Kittle currently leads all NFL tight ends with seven touchdown catches in 2024 and is second among tight ends with 560 receiving yards.
