New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers reflected on the team’s narrow loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday and shared how they remain focused heading into the final two games of the regular season.
In the Jets’ 19-9 defeat, Rodgers threw for 256 yards and one touchdown. With New York officially out of playoff contention, Rodgers was asked about maintaining a positive mindset as the season winds down.
“I think we’re kinda past the ‘keeping it positive’ thing,” Rodgers said, via SNY. “I think it’s just about perspective. Perspective informs your truth, and your truth makes your reality.
“So, the reality of the situation is what it is, but your perspective is what you can change every single day. What you’re focusing on is the most important thing now. It’s not about changing the reality of the situation—being 4-11, out of the playoffs, and heading into an uncertain offseason.”
Rodgers also discussed what the upcoming two weeks mean for the team’s future.
“You gotta figure out what it means to be a professional,” Rodgers said. “That’s a crucial part of building culture. These last two weeks give us a chance to see who’s fully committed moving forward and who’s ready to check out.
It’s just part of the game. I’ve been on teams out of playoff contention before, and it’s always interesting to observe the practice and preparation habits.
“Hopefully, we’ll do the right thing, and it will matter because everyone’s watching. This league is a ‘who-you-know’ business.
The next couple of weeks will bring some intriguing conversations, but for now, we need to focus on the relationships we have with each other and finish this season like professionals.”
The Jets have undergone significant changes this season, including the dismissal of their head coach and general manager, as well as a blockbuster trade for Davante Adams.
More changes could be on the horizon, as wide receiver Garrett Wilson has remained noncommittal about his future with the franchise. New York is now 4-11 on the season.
