The Las Vegas Raiders are preparing for a significant coaching change, setting their sights on Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as the franchise’s next head coach, according to NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. While Las Vegas cannot officially finalize the hire until after Super Bowl LX on February 8, sources indicate the team is committed to Kubiak once the Seahawks complete their postseason run against the New England Patriots.
Kubiak, 38, has made a name for himself in his first year as Seattle’s offensive coordinator. The Seahawks ranked third in points and eighth in yards during the 2025 regular season and elevated their performance in the playoffs, scoring a combined 72 points in two games to reach the Super Bowl.
His ability to design and execute a high-powered offense has made him one of the most sought-after candidates in the 2026 NFL coaching cycle. Kubiak also interviewed with several other teams, including the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, and New York Giants, before Las Vegas zeroed in on him following a second interview for the Raiders’ vacancy.
Kubiak Brings Experience And Youthful Energy To Revive Raiders’ Struggling Franchise
Kubiak’s NFL journey began in 2013 as an offensive quality control coach for the Minnesota Vikings. He later served as an offensive assistant for the Denver Broncos from 2016 to 2018, briefly working under his father, Gary Kubiak, Denver’s head coach at the time. He also coordinated offenses for the Vikings in 2021 and the New Orleans Saints in 2024. With this extensive background, Kubiak brings a blend of youthful energy and experience working in high-level offensive systems.

Once officially hired, Kubiak will join a coaching cohort significantly older than himself, including Chiefs head coach Andy Reid (67), Broncos coach Sean Payton (62), and Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh (62). Beyond the age gap, Kubiak faces the challenge of bringing stability and success to a franchise that has struggled in recent years. The Raiders finished the 2025 season 3-14, their worst record since 2014, and have cycled through five full-time head coaches since 2021. Their offense ranked last in both points and yards, and their defense was 25th in points allowed, highlighting the magnitude of the task ahead.
Kubiak Poised to Revitalize Raiders Offense Using Talent, Draft, And Strategic Leadership
Despite these challenges, Kubiak has reason to be optimistic. Offense is his specialty, and he will have guidance from one of the NFL’s winningest figures, minority owner Tom Brady. The Raiders also have talent in key positions, including running back Ashton Jeanty and defensive end Maxx Crosby. Additionally, Las Vegas holds the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, potentially giving them the opportunity to select a franchise quarterback, with Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza currently projected as the top prospect.
The Raiders’ rebuild may prove difficult after consecutive disappointing seasons and frequent coaching changes, including the brief tenure of Pete Carroll. However, Kubiak’s combination of offensive acumen, coaching pedigree, and postseason experience with the Seahawks positions him as the ideal candidate to turn the franchise around. The team’s patience in waiting until the Super Bowl to finalize the hire underscores their commitment to securing the right leader to guide Las Vegas back to contention.
With Kubiak poised to take over, the Raiders hope his leadership can revitalize a struggling roster, rebuild the offense, and restore the franchise’s competitiveness in the AFC West.
