A former UFC champion recently analyzed why Merab Dvalishvili’s skill set could pose a significant challenge for Henry Cejudo.

Dvalishvili and Cejudo are set to face off in a highly anticipated bantamweight clash at UFC 298, scheduled to be held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Cejudo, a former two-division UFC champion, is known for his exceptional wrestling and boxing abilities, boasting a six-fight win streak and victories over top MMA competitors.

However, former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping believes that Dvalishvili, dubbed ‘The Machine,’ could present a formidable obstacle for Cejudo on February 17.

In a recent discussion on ESPN MMA, Bisping acknowledged Cejudo’s accomplishments but pointed out that Dvalishvili’s relentless chain wrestling could give him a significant advantage in their upcoming showdown:

“He’s facing Merab Dvalishvili. On paper, this could be a tough matchup. They are similar in height and wrestling ability, which affects takedown dynamics. Merab is an incredible wrestler, he’s relentless, has exceptional endurance, keeps pushing forward, possesses a solid chin, and his boxing skills are commendable as well.”

Bisping continued:

“You can argue for both fighters, but they’re almost, I wouldn’t say identical, but stylistically they share similarities. However, Merab is somewhat of a maniac, he just keeps pressing forward.” Dvalishvili has been on an impressive nine-fight win streak since his split decision loss to Ricky Simon in 2018, showcasing dominant performances against former UFC champions Jose Aldo and Petr Yan in his two most recent outings.
