Cody Bellinger, Seiya Suzuki, Christopher Morel, and Garrett Cooper all hit home runs as the Chicago Cubs dominated the Colorado Rockies 12-2 on Tuesday evening, marking their third consecutive victory.

Bellinger’s two-run homer, landing off the right-field scoreboard at Wrigley Field, was his first of the season. Re-signed with the Cubs for an $80 million, three-year contract, Bellinger received chants of “Cody! Cody! Cody!” from some fans as he stepped up to bat, and the cheers grew louder as he launched his 425-foot shot.

Cooper contributed a three-run homer in the sixth inning, extending Chicago’s lead to 10-0. , he also hit a double and a triple during his first home start with the Cubs, all directed toward right field.

Cooper emphasized the favorable dimensions of Wrigley Field for his style of play, particularly appreciating the opportunity for extra-base hits.

In addition to Bellinger and Cooper’s contributions, Nick Madrigal delivered two hits and three RBIs, while Ian Happ and Dansby Swanson each secured two hits.

On the pitching front, Chicago’s right-hander Javier Assad delivered an impressive performance, allowing only four hits in six scoreless innings, striking out five and walking one.

Colorado managed to score only two runs, with Michael Toglia hitting a two-run homer in the seventh inning against Jose Cuas. Despite Charlie Blackmon’s three hits for the Rockies, their offensive struggles continued, with a 1-5 start to the season.

Rockies’ left-hander Kyle Freeland faced a tough outing, surrendering seven runs and nine hits in just 3 1/3 innings, marking his second consecutive rough start.

The Cubs took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning with Suzuki’s powerful home run, followed by Madrigal’s RBI single in the second inning and Morel’s solo shot in the third, showcasing strong offensive performances throughout the game.
